APPLAUSE (1973 CBS telecast)
Lauren Bacall, Penny Fuller, Larry Hagman
If you're expecting a straight record of the musical as performed on stage, you'll be quite disappointed. This production is treated more like a movie, although done on videotape. It probably took MAYBE two weeks to make and probably wasn't done with a massive budget. But it's a good production and worth a look.
This download isn't of the greatest quality. The resolution isn't very large and it's probably from a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th generation VHS dub. There's a black bar at the bottom throughout the entire program where a timecode should be. There's occasional tape anomalies, such as the occasional warp, as well as some banding on the top of the frame. Although one could gripe about the video and audio quality, it's still very watchable/listenable and, considering it's unavailabilty, better than nothing at all.

CHESS (London, 1986)
Elaine Paige (Florence), Tommy Körberg (Anatoly), Murray Head (Freddie), Siobhan McCarthy (Svetlana),
John Turner (Molokov), Kevin Colson (Walter), Tom Jobe (Arbiter)
A house-cam video of the original cast of Chess. A VHS rip with a lot of generational loss. Obviously, the full stage is shot with no zooms and the image is quite fuzzy. The audio is taken from soundboard but also suffers from generational loss and is accompanied by high-pitched hissing sound during the first act and thankfully much quieter low rumbling during the second one. Still, a valuable historical piece. C+

Robbie Krupski, Jodie Gillies, David McLeod, Maria Mercedes,
Laurence Clifford, David Whitney, Dean Lotherington, Michael Turkic
Original Australian cast, director: Jim Sharman, musical director: Michael Tyack.
The file additionally contains concert performances of Brigadoon's "The Heather on the Hill" by Sally Ann Howes, "The Love of My Life" by Judy Kaye, "Almost Like Being in Love" by Meg Bussert and Richard White; plus Royal Wedding's "How Could You Believe Me?" by Jane Powell and Lee Roy Reams. This is apparently a piece of the pro-shot of some Alan Jay Lerner celebration but with a lot of generational loss.

Aaron Lazar (Fabrizio Naccarelli), Sarah Uriarte Berry (Franca Naccarelli),
Michael Berresse (Giuseppe Naccarelli), Patti Cohenour (Signora Naccarelli),

Aired on June 15th, 2006, this filmed production of The Light in the Piazza at the Vivian Beaumont theater will never be commercially released - this is your only chance to see the wonderful New York cast featuring Tony winner Victoria Clark. It closed on July 2nd.
The Light in the Piazza, based on the novella by Elizabeth Spencer, is set in the summer of 1953 and tells the story of a mother and daughter traveling through Italy, and the daughter's romance with a handsome, high-spirited Florentine. They fall in love. As their relationship develops, the girl's mother must reveal the truth that will surely test that love.
This is divx split into two 700 meg files, Act 1 and act 2. It includes the behind the scenes during intermission.
480x288, and not the best quality, but it will do.

ВЛАДИМИРСКАЯ ПЛОЩАДЬ (VLADIMIRSKAYA SQUARE) (Saint-Petersburg cast, 2004)
Andrey Zibrov (Ivan Petrovich), Alexandra Kamchatova (Natasha),
Anastasia Samarskaya (Nelly), Alexander Koigerov (Aliosha),
Elena Komissarenko (Nelly's mother), Kristina Kuzmina (Katia)
A proshot of this musical (written after Dostoevsky's "Humiliated and Insulted") is made by a single camera on a tripod for the theatre archives.
A little dark, has slight interlacing, sometimes gets blurry, misses two pieces about 1.5 minutes each (due to the camera man replacing a full cassette with a new one). Seems to be one of the earliest performances because at times members of the cast forget the lyrics and also because the creative team (including the composer Alexander Zhurbin and the director Vladislav Pazi) is joining them on stage after the show. B+
